Mangala Set for Surgery in France After Season-Ending Injury
Everton midfielder Orel Mangala is set to leave the club temporarily after suffering a season-ending injury during their 1-0 win over Brighton on 25 January.
Manager David Moyes confirmed that Mangala will return to France for surgery. Speaking to the media, as relayed by Ben Dinnery on his personal X account [31 January], Moyes stated:
“Mangala will go back. I think we’re waiting for the surgeon to clear it. I think he will be operated on in France, as far as we know.”
Mangala’s Absence a Major Setback for Everton
The French midfielder has been a crucial part of Everton’s midfield this season, playing in all but one Premier League game.
His consistency and influence in the engine room have been vital for the Toffees.
Moyes will now have to find a replacement for the 26-year-old, either from within the squad or through the transfer market.
Since Moyes’ return to Goodison Park, Everton’s performances have improved, but they remain in a relegation battle.
Maintaining form without Mangala will be a challenge.
