Dean Ashton Questions Cooper’s Approach

Former West Ham United striker Dean Ashton voiced his concerns on talkSPORT, stating that he struggles to identify a clear style under Steve Cooper.

He remarked, “I have yet to look at a Steve Cooper side and know how they are playing, what sets them apart, and what he wants his team to do.

Today was about going forward quickly, getting it to the front, and flicking it behind for [Jamie] Vardy.

There’s nothing wrong with that, but at times, they also tried to play it out from the goalkeeper.

“There was a strong identity last season, but I haven’t seen that from Cooper yet.

Still, I can’t criticize him too much because he made a big call before the game, and it worked.”

The Need for a Change in Strategy

While the game plan ultimately succeeded, Leicester still played cautiously, which could have been detrimental had Bournemouth capitalized on their chances.

Cooper’s pragmatic approach has yet to win over City fans, but there is certainly more optimism heading into the international break compared to before.
