Leicester City rely on Juventus holding firm in transfer battle following Paulo Dybala intervention

Matias Soule prefers Roma move, but Juventus reluctant to strengthen Serie A rival, leaving his future in limbo

Leicester City’s pursuit of Matias Soule hinges on Juventus’ reluctance to strengthen a Serie A rival.

City are reportedly keen on the Argentine attacker, having had a €25m (£21m) plus bonuses bid rejected. Juventus are open to negotiations, with a price tag of €30m.

Roma is also interested in Soule, and reports from Italy suggest the 21-year-old prefers the capital club. Corriere dello Sport reports that Soule has informed his agent, Juventus teammates, and Roma’s Argentinian star Paulo Dybala of his desire to join Roma. Dybala and fellow countryman Leandro Paredes have been persuading Soule to move to Roma throughout the past season.

However, Soule’s move depends on the two clubs reaching an agreement, which is not straightforward. Juventus, aware of Soule’s potential, are hesitant to strengthen a Serie A rival and prefer to send Federico Chiesa to Roma due to limited interest in the Italian international.

Juventus would rather sell Soule abroad to avoid potential future competition. For Leicester to secure the deal, they need Juventus to adhere to this plan, making a move to the King Power Stadium Soule’s only option.
