The Only Club That Could Afford Alexander Isak: Alan Shearer Weighs in on Newcastle United Transfer Talks
Alan Shearer Confident Alexander Isak Will Remain at Newcastle This January

According to Alan Shearer, only one Premier League club could realistically afford the massive fee it would take to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
However, the Newcastle legend is confident the Swedish striker will remain on Tyneside.
Isak’s impressive form, combined with Newcastle’s financial considerations if they wish to strengthen their squad further, has attracted considerable interest in the 25-year-old. Arsenal is reportedly among the clubs keen to sign him.
Despite this, Newcastle has consistently dismissed any suggestion they might sell their star forward, even with a rumored £150 million transfer fee.
Shearer believes such a price tag places Isak out of reach for all but one Premier League side.
That being said, Newcastle and Isak appear to share ambitious goals for the future.

“Other than possibly Chelsea, I genuinely don’t think anyone could afford to buy Alexander Isak,” Shearer told Betfair.
“Because of how the rules around Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) are structured, I don’t think anybody could make that deal happen.
Even without those regulations, I’m not sure if anyone could meet the price Newcastle would demand to sell him.”
Shearer also doubts Newcastle would even entertain such an offer.
“If you’ve paid £63 million for a player, and he’s dominating the league as Isak is, what would his price be?
I’ve seen £150 million mentioned, but I still don’t think Newcastle would consider it. Why would they?
The bigger challenge would be finding someone who could perform as well as him. Right now, every club needs a center-forward.
If a forward like Isak were available, every team in the country would try to sign him.”
Isak is expected to miss Newcastle’s FA Cup third-round match against Bromley due to a minor injury he sustained during the Carabao Cup victory over Arsenal.
Despite this, the Swede has already netted 15 goals this season, including 10 in his last nine appearances.
Impressively, he has scored in each of Newcastle’s last seven Premier League matches.
Shearer highlighted Isak’s exceptional form, saying, “The confidence is flowing for Isak, and it’s clear in his performances.
Even if you take his goals away, his overall game is outstanding—his touch, technique, movement, runs in behind, and positioning. He’s red-hot at the moment.”
Adding to his praise, Shearer noted, “When you factor in his goals—which are, of course, the most important part—you have a striker performing at the absolute peak of his powers.
It’s an incredible feeling for any player to be in such great form.
When confidence is that high, it all feels natural, and everything seems to fall into place, no matter what you do.”
Shearer emphasized the importance of enjoying the spotlight as a player.
“When everyone’s talking about you and praising your performances, you have to embrace it.
You’re not normal if you don’t enjoy the recognition that comes with performing well.
In today’s world, when things aren’t going your way, people are quick to criticize. So, when it’s the opposite, you have to make the most of it.”
Shearer believes Isak is thriving in this positive atmosphere.
“He’ll be loving every moment of this. I’m sure he wakes up eager to train and even more excited for matchdays.
When you’re in form and everyone admires your performances, it’s one of the best feelings in the world.
It’s crucial to embrace that attention and enjoy being in the spotlight during times like these.”
