Leicester City have been active in the summer 2024 transfer window under new manager Steve Cooper, who replaced Enzo Maresca, now at Chelsea.
Maresca led the Foxes to Premier League promotion, but Cooper now faces the challenge of preparing the team for a potential relegation battle.
Owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has supported the team with four new first-team additions: Abdul Fatawu, Micheal Golding, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, and Caleb Okoli, all of whom have joined the King Power Stadium on permanent deals.
Further additions are anticipated before the transfer deadline on August 30th.
Leicester are interested in bringing Arthur Melo back to the Premier League despite his challenging stint with Liverpool in 2022/23.
Additionally, Chelsea striker David Fofan is rumored to be a loan target for Leicester, with Cooper’s team reportedly leading the race for the Ivorian.
With Jamie Vardy injured and set to miss the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season, Leicester is short of quality strikers.
Moreover, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s departure to Chelsea has left a gap in Leicester’s midfield.
According to The Athletic, Cooper aims to strengthen the squad in key areas during the remainder of August. Although 18-year-old Micheal Golding has joined the club, he is seen as a future prospect.
Leicester still seeks to replace Dewsbury-Hall and add a new number 10, as well as a top-quality striker.
Several names have been linked with Leicester as potential signings. Former Manchester United forward Wout Weghorst is one such target, with Ajax also reportedly interested in the 31-year-old goalscorer.
Leicester have also bid for Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew, who might be available for a reduced fee due to his contract expiring in 2025 and his previous free transfer to the Eagles.
In midfield, Arthur Melo remains a candidate to fill Dewsbury-Hall’s role, while Leicester are also considering a move for Amir Richardson, who impressed for Morocco at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Although few natural number 10s have been linked with Leicester, Cooper has just over three weeks to secure further signings before the transfer window closes.
