Denmark faced a tough challenge in Belgrade as Serbia dominated the match with 22 shots compared to the Danes’ eight.

Leicester City’s Jannik Vestergaard and Victor Kristiansen both started the game but failed to make a significant impact.

They were among the lowest-rated players for Denmark.

Meanwhile, fellow Leicester player Mads Hermansen remained on the bench.

Although Vestergaard showed some improvement during the match, it was Kristiansen who drew the most criticism for his performance.

Victor Kristiansen’s Struggles Highlighted by Danish Media

Victor Kristiansen had a difficult night on the international stage, receiving harsh reviews from Danish media.

The 21-year-old left-back was heavily criticized for his performance and earned a one-star rating from Tipsbladet, the lowest of any player in the Danish squad.

The publication stated, “Kristiansen again had a terrible evening at the office.

The Dane did not follow his marking at all after 20 minutes, when he was overtaken. It gave the home team a huge chance.

He sailed around for Denmark. He seemed like all other Danish players deeply shaken at the start of the match.

He made one mispass after another. Off for an evening. The second half was marginally better for Kristiansen.”

Other media outlets echoed similar sentiments. B.T. commented, “Did Zivkovic have bad breath? For ‘VK,’ in the first half, they kept a constant distance of several meters to the Serbian edge, which again, again and again avoided and hit dangerous crosses.

And then the Dane spiced it all up with sloppy clearances that gave the Serbs new opportunities.

However, he played himself up as the match progressed.” The outlet rated him 2/6.

Similarly, Ekstrabladet gave Kristiansen a two, stating, “There is doubt as to whether he succeeded in blocking a single post.

It was terrifying. He shuffled around and limped most of the time.

It almost seemed as if he had invited the Serbs to an open house and told them they could just look around as much as they wanted.

At the same time, he was close to a real nightmare in the second half when he almost gave Serbia a free-kick, which Schmeichel intercepted. He grew a bit in the second half.”

Leicester’s Defensive Concerns Ahead of January

The poor performances on the international stage may raise questions for Leicester City’s defensive lineup, particularly with Ricardo Pereira sidelined for four months due to injury.

The club currently relies on Kristiansen, James Justin, and Luke Thomas as senior options.

However, while Kristiansen and Justin may retain their positions, Thomas has yet to prove himself at the required level for Premier League contention.

With the January transfer window approaching, manager Steve Cooper may need to explore defensive reinforcements.

A versatile full-back capable of playing on both flanks could be a valuable addition, especially given Pereira’s history of long-term injuries.

While Pereira is expected to be in the midst of rehabilitation by January, his return to peak form cannot be guaranteed after his third significant injury in less than five years.

Bringing in defensive support during the winter window could strengthen Leicester’s squad and enhance their chances of maintaining their Premier League status this season.
