Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to move on from Yves Bissouma after the midfielder was once again caught on camera inhaling laughing gas, according to talkSPORT.
It marks the latest controversy in what has already been a turbulent season for both player and club.
The Lilywhites have experienced an inconsistent campaign under new head coach Thomas Frank.
Despite moments of promise, Spurs currently sit 11th in the Premier League table and hold ninth place in the Champions League standings, narrowly outside the automatic qualification spots.
Their progress has come without any contribution from Bissouma, who has not played a single minute this season due to a combination of injury problems and repeated off-field issues.
Tottenham Planning to Move Bissouma On
The Malian midfielder, who earns more than £84,000 per week, was seen in a video taken in the early hours of November 3rd inhaling nitrous oxide.
This occurred at a time when he was unavailable for selection because of injury.
This is not the first time Bissouma has found himself in trouble for the same behaviour.
He was disciplined by the club back in August after being caught inhaling laughing gas and later issued a public apology, admitting it had been a “severe lack of judgement.”
However, the emergence of a second incident appears to have been the final straw for Tottenham, who are now ready to offload the 29-year-old.
Bissouma came close to leaving during the summer transfer window, with Galatasaray strongly interested before negotiations fell through.
Despite that, talkSPORT claim the Turkish giants remain keen on signing him in January, and Spurs are prepared to sell.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Tottenham see little value in keeping a player who clearly does not feature in Frank’s long-term plans.
A Pattern of Disciplinary Setbacks
The laughing gas incidents are only part of a broader pattern of disciplinary problems.
Earlier in the season, Bissouma was left out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup meeting with Paris Saint-Germain after arriving late for training.
Although Frank insisted the situation had been resolved, the midfielder then spent several months sidelined with an unexplained injury, before later suffering an ankle issue while away on international duty.
Given the succession of problems, his contract situation, and the depth of midfield options already at Frank’s disposal, Bissouma’s departure now seems inevitable.
Unfortunately, his time in north London looks set to be defined more by controversies off the pitch than by performances on it.
