Tottenham Hotspur could yet look to rekindle their interest in Premier League winger Savinho when the January transfer window opens, according to fresh reports.
Spurs have endured a frustrating and underwhelming league campaign so far, with Thomas Frank’s side currently sitting 13th in the Premier League table.
However, the situation is far from beyond repair.
A victory over Brentford on Thursday would see Tottenham climb as high as seventh, highlighting how tight the race is in the middle of the table.
Supporters have largely been unimpressed by performances this season, but Sunday’s narrow 1-0 win against Crystal Palace has offered renewed belief that Champions League qualification is still within reach.
That result has eased some pressure on Frank and reinforced the club’s determination to strengthen the squad during the January transfer window.
Tottenham are keen to back their head coach with reinforcements, particularly in attacking areas, as they look to salvage their season.
The club had been hopeful of securing a deal for Antoine Semenyo before Manchester City entered the race and effectively ended Spurs’ pursuit.
Savinho is another player Spurs previously targeted. Tottenham explored a move for the Brazilian winger during the summer, but City were unwilling to sanction his departure at that time.
Now, circumstances may have changed, potentially reopening the door for renewed interest.
According to Daily Mail journalist Matt Barlow, Savinho is not the only name under consideration.
RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz and Monaco midfielder Maghnes Akliouche are all understood to be on Tottenham’s shortlist.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Barlow explained that Semenyo now appears destined for a move elsewhere, likely Manchester City or Liverpool, describing it as a “reality check” for those who assume Spurs can sign any player they choose.
He added that Diomande, currently representing Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations, is another highly exciting prospect.
Although the teenage winger is in his first season in Germany and would be both costly and difficult to prise away mid-season, his age and potential make him attractive to Europe’s elite clubs.
Barlow also highlighted Juventus’ 20-year-old Turkish international Kenan Yildiz, a highly rated wide attacker who is generating significant interest, with super-agent Jorge Mendes actively shaping a competitive market for his signature.
Crucially, Barlow suggested that Tottenham’s interest in Savinho could be reignited if Manchester City sign another winger in January.
Despite recently agreeing a new contract, Savinho remains on the periphery of Pep Guardiola’s plans, having started just four Premier League matches this season.
Finally, Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche remains firmly on Spurs’ radar.
The versatile attacking midfielder was considered by Tottenham during the summer and impressed against them in the Champions League, ensuring his name continues to be discussed as the club assesses its January options.
