Tottenham Contemplate Signing Atalanta Defensive Midfielder Ederson This Summer
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is set to depart Tottenham ahead of the upcoming season, having fallen out of favor under Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham are now eyeing Atalanta’s star midfielder, with internal discussions underway, as reported by GIVEMESPORT.
Ederson has shown significant improvement since joining Atalanta in 2022, rebounding from a mediocre debut season to display consistent performances last year in both Serie A and their Europa League-winning campaign. Despite having three years left on his contract, he is open to joining a larger club for the next season. Atalanta is reportedly open to selling him for around £45 million.
Liverpool is also interested in securing the 25-year-old’s services, but Tottenham, under Postecoglou, are keen on testing Atalanta’s resolve. They view Ederson as a potential alternative to Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur.
Bentancur’s injury-proneness, exacerbated by a recent setback at the Copa America, underscores the urgency for Tottenham to bolster their midfield with another top defensive option before the 2024/25 season commences.
