Tottenham Must Shell Out £17m to Appoint Premier League Boss

In recent months, Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva, and Thomas Frank have been repeatedly mentioned as leading contenders to take over from Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham this summer.

However, growing reports in recent weeks suggest that Spurs are also seriously considering Oliver Glasner for the role.

According to a German publication, Tottenham may now be leading the race ahead of RB Leipzig for the Austrian coach’s signature.

The North London club has also discovered the cost involved in appointing Glasner.

BILD reports that Glasner, currently managing Crystal Palace, does not have a release clause in his contract.

This means Spurs would need to negotiate directly with Palace if they want to secure his services.

Interestingly, the South London side turned down an €18m (£15m) offer from Bayern Munich for Glasner last summer, before the German giants turned to Vincent Kompany.

Despite this, Glasner has only one year left on his current contract with Palace, which could influence the club’s willingness to sell.

The report states that Tottenham would likely need to pay around €20m (£17m) to bring him to North London.

While the potential transfer fee may be substantial, Glasner’s salary isn’t seen as a problem for Tottenham.

The Austrian currently earns €5m (£4.3m) annually at Selhurst Park, which is below what Spurs currently pay Postecoglou.

Meanwhile, Palace are eager to retain Glasner. A contrasting report from Football Insider recently claimed that the Eagles are preparing to offer the 50-year-old a long-term contract in an attempt to secure his future at the club.

According to that update, Glasner is content at Palace and not currently considering a move.

His primary focus remains on finishing the season on a high note rather than engaging in talks about his next steps.

As things stand, Glasner’s future is uncertain, with both Tottenham’s interest and Palace’s desire to retain him creating a compelling storyline ahead of the summer.
