Leicester City has signed Chantelle Swaby on a two-year contract, following her departure from FC Fleury 91 in France’s top division.
At 25, Swaby made her debut for Jamaica while still playing college football and appeared in the 2019 FIFA World Cup before being drafted by NWSL’s Sky Blue FC in 2020.
Her year in the SWPL with Rangers was marked by success, with the team winning the league before she moved to FC Fleury 91. Swaby made 33 appearances for Fleury and is now eager to compete in the WSL.
Speaking to LCFC.com, Swaby said: “It feels great to have signed for Leicester City. I know this will be a really good experience and a great challenge for me, and I’m really excited. Playing at King Power Stadium as the home team will be a whole different experience, and I’m really looking forward to getting started with my teammates and meeting the supporters.”
Swaby will join her new teammates at Belvoir Drive for pre-season preparations as the club enters its fourth consecutive season in the top flight, and its first under Amandine Miquel.
Leicester City has already bolstered its defense in this transfer window, confirming the permanent acquisition of Asmita Ale on Wednesday. The club will also unveil another new signing at a live shirt signing event on Saturday.
