Tottenham Pursuing Next Nemanja Vidic Amid Nottingham Forest Competition
Tottenham Keen to Secure Highly-Rated Defender, with Nottingham Forest Leading the Pursuit

Tottenham Hotspur are poised for a significant squad overhaul this summer, with reports suggesting up to 10 players could be departing. This restructuring aims to make room for new signings, having already secured Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and Archie Gray from Leeds United.
Now, their focus turns to bolstering their defense, specifically targeting a central defender. According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham have set their sights on Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic during this summer’s transfer window.
The 26-year-old Serbian, often likened to Nemanja Vidic, has made a strong impression in Serie A since joining Fiorentina from Partizan in 2017. His potential move to the Premier League seems increasingly likely, with interest also coming from Aston Villa, Fulham, and notably, Nottingham Forest, who are currently leading the race.
Nottingham Forest have reportedly made a significant offer which Fiorentina is considering seriously. While Spurs may still enter the fray, they are playing catch-up in negotiations.
Instead of splurging on another backup central defender, some suggest that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou should promote Ashley Phillips to the first team. Phillips, born in 2005, impressed during a loan spell at Plymouth Argyle in the Championship last season. Alongside Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Radu Dragusin, Phillips could provide ample cover in defense.
Given these options, Tottenham might consider allocating funds towards other areas of the squad, particularly focusing on strengthening their attacking options.
