Report: Everton Target £17m Player Who Seeks Premier League Move This Summer

Jarrad Branthwaite missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Roma as he continues recovering from a minor groin operation, and Michael Keane was sidelined with an injury of his own.

As a result, Sean Dyche currently lacks depth behind James Tarkowski and O’Brien.

Given these injuries and Tottenham’s ongoing interest in Branthwaite, Everton are in need of a new central defender.

The club has now shortlisted a potential target from the Bundesliga: Maxence Lacroix.

According to BILD in Germany, Everton are looking to sign Lacroix, who plays for VfL Wolfsburg.

The defender is set to leave Wolfsburg this summer as he has refused to sign a new contract with just 11 months remaining on his current deal.

BILD reports that Lacroix, who dreams of playing in the Premier League, could be available for around €20 million (£17.1 million) due to his contract situation.

Lacroix made 28 Bundesliga appearances last season, scoring four goals and providing one assist. Notably, Liverpool are also interested in Lacroix, as they look to replace Joel Matip this summer.

However, Crystal Palace may be in the best position to sign Lacroix. BILD suggests that the south London club is keen to acquire the 24-year-old and benefits from a strong relationship between Lacroix and Oliver Glasner, who signed the defender during his tenure at Wolfsburg.

With Newcastle closing in on a deal for Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, Lacroix could have a place in the backline at Selhurst Park.

As Everton push to secure Lacroix, keep an eye on how this situation develops.
