Report: Leicester City targeting 6’6″ Serie A defender

Leicester City may lose a summer signing but already have a replacement in mind.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is working hard to strengthen Leicester City’s squad in hopes of reversing their poor form and ensuring their survival in the Premier League next season.

The Foxes are in dire straits, having lost their last five matches and currently sitting second from bottom in the league table.

According to Opta, Leicester is among the favorites for relegation.

Gary Lineker has called for Van Nistelrooy to prioritize signing a defender during the January transfer window.

While new defensive additions are welcome, they might come at the cost of losing a current squad member.

Caleb Okoli, who joined Leicester last summer, is rumored to be on his way back to Italy.

Despite his £15 million transfer, Okoli has struggled for consistent game time and is reportedly not in Van Nistelrooy’s long-term plans.

According to Rudy Galetti, Okoli is nearing a move to Serie A side Parma.

This potential departure leaves Leicester in urgent need of defensive reinforcements, especially after Jannik Vestergaard suffered an injury.

The Foxes are reportedly eyeing Udinese defender Thomas Kristensen as a replacement.

Leicester is said to have inquired about Kristensen’s availability amid interest from other European clubs.

Who is Thomas Kristensen?

Thomas Kristensen is a 22-year-old central defender currently playing for Serie A side Udinese.

Born in Gallen, Denmark, on January 17, 2002, he began his youth career at Galten before joining AGF.

During his time with AGF (2018–2023), Kristensen made his senior debut in September 2021 and won the prestigious Martin Jørgensen Talent Award, named after a club legend.

He joined Udinese in September 2023 but has made only eight appearances this season due to injury.

Internationally, Kristensen has represented Denmark 11 times, scoring one goal.

He would bring familiarity to Leicester’s Danish contingent, which includes Mads Hermansen, Victor Kristiansen, and Jannik Vestergaard.

Van Nistelrooy will hope that Kristensen’s potential arrival can provide the defensive stability Leicester d

esperately needs.
