Tottenham Submit Club-Record £60m Bid for Illia Zabarnyi
Tottenham Hotspur have made a club-record bid to sign Bournemouth centre-back Illia Zabarnyi, according to journalist Duncan Castles.
Spurs are undergoing a significant transition under new manager Thomas Frank, who was appointed following Ange Postecoglou’s dismissal at the end of the 2024/25 season.
With Frank known for favouring a back-three system at Brentford, strengthening the central defence appears to be a priority.
In this summer’s transfer window, Tottenham have already secured two major signings. Mohammed Kudus joined from West Ham United, while Mathys Tel completed a permanent switch from Bayern Munich after impressing on loan.
Chairman Daniel Levy is clearly intent on supporting Frank’s vision for the squad.
Speaking on The Transfers Podcast, Castles revealed that Tottenham have submitted a bid worth approximately £60 million (€70 million) to sign Zabarnyi.
This offer matches Bournemouth’s asking price and surpasses the initial £55 million Spurs paid for Dominic Solanke—making it a new club-record transfer fee.
“Tottenham, one of several Premier League sides interested in the 22-year-old, have offered £60 million for Zabarnyi,” Castles explained.
“He’s one of the quickest centre-backs in the league and has maintained a near-perfect fitness record since arriving at Bournemouth. This offer meets the valuation set by owner Bill Foley.”
Zabarnyi has emerged as a standout performer since arriving at Bournemouth, forming an impressive defensive partnership with Dean Huijsen, who has since earned a move to Real Madrid.
While Huijsen often grabbed the headlines, Zabarnyi’s consistent performances didn’t go unnoticed—especially by Spurs, who now look determined to bring him to north London.
If completed, this move would represent a major statement by Tottenham as they look to reinforce their squad for the new era under Frank.
