Leicester City Target Goalkeeper to Compete for Number 1 Spot

Leicester City have targeted a new goalkeeper to compete with Mads Hermansen for the starting spot, but they face competition from Anderlecht.

After a one-season absence, the Foxes have returned to the Premier League and are actively seeking reinforcements to ensure their survival.

They were close to securing attacker Adam Hlozek from Bayer Leverkusen, but Hoffenheim swooped in to hijack the deal at the last minute.

In addition to bolstering their attacking options, Leicester is prioritizing the recruitment of a goalkeeper to provide strong competition for Hermansen.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Leicester has shortlisted Royal Antwerp’s Jean Butez as a potential candidate.

Butez, 29, has been with Royal Antwerp since 2020 and has made 168 appearances for the Belgian club. Leicester sees him as a strong contender for the number one spot at the King Power Stadium.

However, Belgian giants Anderlecht are also in the race for Butez. They are expected to submit a bid after the English transfer window closes at the end of this month, as the transfer window in Belgium remains open until 6th September.

The competition for Butez’s signature adds a layer of urgency for Leicester as they look to finalize their squad.
