Having progressed through Chelsea’s youth ranks, Fikayo Tomori made his senior debut for the club in 2016.
However, the 27-year-old found it difficult to cement a place in the first team and was subsequently loaned out to several clubs to gain experience and regular playing time.
Tomori eventually joined AC Milan on loan during the winter transfer window of 2021 and impressed during his spell, leading to a permanent move that summer.
Since arriving at San Siro, the English defender quickly became a crucial figure in the heart of Milan’s defence.
He played a key role in helping the Rossoneri secure the Serie A title in the 2021/22 season.
Although his appearances have been limited this campaign, he still contributed to the team’s Supercoppa Italiana victory.
According to TEAMtalk, Milan are now open to selling Tomori in the upcoming summer transfer window as they face the possibility of missing out on Champions League revenue.
While the club previously valued him at around £34 million, they are now reportedly willing to accept an offer closer to £26 million.
Tottenham’s Interest
Spurs are keen to strengthen their defensive unit due to the injury issues faced by Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Radu Dragusin.
The report states that Tottenham have renewed their interest in Tomori after a failed attempt to sign him during the January window.
Juventus and Newcastle United have also shown interest in the past but never made formal approaches.
Tottenham are now said to be in a strong position to secure the defender’s signature and are expected to begin negotiations soon.
Tomori brings pace, strength, aerial ability, and composure on the ball, making him a strong fit for Ange Postecoglou’s defensive setup.
His performances in Serie A underline his potential to succeed in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen if Tottenham will finalise the deal, but if they do, Tomori could prove to be a valuable addition to their backline at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
