Tottenham Transfer News: Archie Gray Deal Nears, Lilywhites Informed £25 Million Needed for ‘Turkish Valverde’

HITC has reported that Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray has passed his medical at Tottenham and has agreed to personal terms with Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Thomas Frank’s Brentford initially seemed to have secured the teenage sensation, but the deal stalled, allowing Tottenham to step in. Now, Tottenham has won the race for Gray, with the North London club paying £35 million for the midfielder. Welsh defender Joe Rodon is heading back to Leeds on a permanent deal after his loan spell last season.
According to a report from the French outlet Foot Mercato, Tottenham approached Real Madrid regarding the potential signing of Brahim Diaz. Spurs are reportedly looking to bolster their attacking options this summer. HITC has also reported that the Lilywhites made an approach for Jarrod Bowen, but West Ham categorically stated that he’s not for sale.
As for Diaz, Foot Mercato’s report states that both Madrid and Diaz rejected the approach from Spurs, as they want to continue together next season.
One player linked with a move to the Premier League is Turkey star Baris Alper Yilmaz, who has impressed at the 2024 European Championships in Germany. HITC reported back in April that Spurs, along with Manchester United and Aston Villa, were scouting the Galatasaray ace, believing he could be the ‘Turkish Valverde’ due to his versatility. Yilmaz can play at right-wing, right-back, or midfield, and Turkish outlet Haber 3 has claimed that interested parties would need to pay £25 million to land the exciting Turkish international.
It is not just incomings in North London; potential outgoings will be key for Postecoglou’s side if they are to progress next season. With the impending transfer of Leeds’ Gray, current midfielders at the Lilywhites may be looking over their shoulders.
Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is certainly one of these. The former Bayern Munich midfielder was approached by Sky Germany amid reported interest from Borussia Dortmund. Responding to rumors of a move to the Signal Iduna Park, he said, “It’s a nice stadium. I’m on holiday now, then after the break, who knows.”
