Friday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Hellas Verona have targeted 24-year-old Yunus Akgün to strengthen their squad this summer.
The Serie A side is looking to add new attackers, with Akgün and Boavista’s Róbert Boženík on their list.
Hellas Verona has been in ongoing discussions, likely with Galatasaray, to secure Akgün’s services.
During his time at Leicester City, Enzo Maresca utilized Akgün as an attacking midfielder, winger, and central midfielder.
The Turkey international scored two goals and provided three assists in 29 appearances for the Foxes.
According to Galatasaray’s official website, Leicester paid a €500,000 loan fee and had an option to buy him for €9 million, which they did not exercise.
The report states that Hellas Verona can acquire Akgün on a loan deal with a €5 million purchase clause.
However, Galatasaray wants this clause to be mandatory, which is currently the sticking point in negotiations between the two clubs.
In summary, Akgün is available for a total of €5 million, with the permanent transfer and financial impact deferred for a year.
