Several wide forwards have been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, as Thomas Frank looks to strengthen that area of his squad in the January transfer window.

Spurs were previously ready to spend heavily on Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, but those hopes ended when the 23-year-old signed a new long-term deal at Villa Park.

Reports also suggested that Tottenham were leading the race to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo after a failed summer approach, but a fresh name has now emerged as a key target.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Frank has told the Tottenham hierarchy to make the signing of a wide forward their top priority in January.

The Danish coach was reportedly keen to bring in a winger during the summer, but the club couldn’t finalise a deal.

O’Rourke confirmed that Spurs retain an interest in Rodrygo but admitted a mid-season move for the Brazilian would be highly unlikely.

This aligns with journalist Florian Plettenberg’s earlier report that Tottenham cannot meet Rodrygo’s wage demands and that the links are overstated.

Consequently, O’Rourke claims that the club could switch focus to Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, who has made a strong start to the campaign.

Although Everton are reluctant to sell, Tottenham are continuing to monitor the Senegal international closely.

O’Rourke isn’t the first to mention Spurs’ admiration for Ndiaye.

Earlier this week, Dean Jones also reported that Tottenham could move for the winger following Rogers’ contract renewal at Villa.

However, Spurs may face a major hurdle, with reports suggesting they would need to pay in excess of £60 million to secure his signature — a fee likely to rise further if Ndiaye continues his impressive form for the Toffees.
