Opinion: Everton Should Move Swiftly for Richarlison as Transfer Becomes a Top Priority Amid Spurs Discussions

Everton made a tidy profit when they sold Brazil international Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur in 2022.

Since his departure, however, the Toffees have struggled to find a striker who can match the impact the former Fluminense star had during his time at Goodison Park.

Several forwards have come and gone since Richarlison’s exit, but none have managed to fill the void he left behind.

With uncertainty surrounding Richarlison’s future at Spurs, speculation about a potential return to Merseyside is unsurprising.

David Moyes, who now leads the Toffees, could certainly use a player of Richarlison’s caliber next season.

Beto has led the line this term but has struggled to maintain consistency, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract is nearing its end.

Everton’s lack of firepower in attack is becoming a growing concern.

Under Sean Dyche, the club’s attacking performances were often underwhelming, partly due to his conservative tactics.

According to journalist Eduardo Burgos, writing on X (formerly Twitter) on 4 April, several Brazilian clubs are interested in signing the 27-year-old, though his preference is to remain in Europe.

While a move back to Brazil hasn’t been ruled out entirely, it’s believed to be unlikely at this stage.

That opens the door for Everton to make a move and potentially bring Richarlison back to the Premier League.

His fond memories of Goodison Park and the connection with the fans could play a pivotal role in swaying his decision.

A return would likely be warmly received by supporters, and TFG would be wise to pursue the transfer.

Given Richarlison’s struggles at Spurs — both in terms of fitness and game time — Everton could even secure him for a reduced fee.

Bringing back Richarlison should be high on Moyes’ list of priorities as he looks to rebuild Everton’s frontline.

The Brazilian’s proven ability in the Premier League, combined with his familiarity with the club, makes him an ideal candidate to spearhead the attack next season.
