A European club is set to sign a Leeds United player next, following the announcement of a new transfer, according to a report.
Leeds United are set to part ways with Marc Roca, who is close to being announced as a Real Betis player, according to Gonzalo Tortosa.
El Chiringuito journalist Tortosa wrote on X that Roca could become Betis’ second summer signing after Romain Perraud from Southampton.
Roca joined Betis on loan last summer following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship, with a clause allowing him to leave.
Previously, it was reported that Leeds and Betis had agreed on another loan deal for the 2024-25 season, but the Spanish club is now moving towards a permanent transfer for Roca.
Roca was a key player for Manuel Pellegrini’s squad at Betis last season, making 26 La Liga appearances. Despite injuries limiting his playtime, his performances convinced the club to pursue a permanent deal.
Initially, Leeds demanded up to £6.7 million for the Spaniard, but Betis hopes to negotiate a deal closer to £4.2 million.
Though Roca is contracted with Leeds until 2026, his future seems to lie elsewhere. Leeds need to generate funds this transfer window to ease their financial strain after failing to secure promotion to the Premier League, making Roca’s permanent transfer necessary.
Roca joined Leeds in summer 2022 from Bayern Munich for around £10 million, meaning the club faces a significant loss if the sale proceeds. He made 32 Premier League appearances for Leeds before going on loan to Betis last year.
