Tottenham Hotspur may have to spend over £60 million to secure the services of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, who has been under close observation by the club this season, as reported by Sky Sports.
The 25-year-old Cameroonian international is one of two Brentford players the club is open to selling this summer, the other being his strike partner Yoane Wissa.
Both have attracted attention from Spurs, who are assessing attacking reinforcements ahead of the new campaign.
Mbeumo has stood out as one of the Premier League’s top-performing forwards, excelling both on the right wing and in central positions.
Alongside Wissa, he is currently joint-fifth in the Premier League goal charts with 18 goals.
Within Brentford, there’s a growing belief that Mbeumo is ready for a move to a more high-profile club.
Despite concerns over Tottenham’s summer spending—particularly with a reported net transfer debt of £279 million—the club’s financial situation could be boosted significantly with a victory in the UEFA Europa League final against Manchester United on May 21.
Winning the trophy would not only end a 17-year title drought but also secure £15.7 million in prize money through UEFA Champions League qualification.
Whether manager Ange Postecoglou will continue after the final remains uncertain, but club chairman Daniel Levy appears intent on bolstering a frontline that has lacked consistency.
Mbeumo could be a key part of that rebuild, given his versatility, Premier League pedigree, and clinical finishing—traits he has displayed this season, including in matches against Spurs.
Brentford, who signed Mbeumo from Troyes for just £4 million in 2019, are in a strong position with the player under contract for another two years, plus an optional third.
Still, club captain Christian Norgaard recently suggested that “Bryan is likely to go,” indicating Brentford are preparing for his potential departure.
Interest in Mbeumo extends beyond North London, with Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle all reportedly monitoring him ahead of the summer window.
If Tottenham land the Brentford star, he could feature on the right flank alongside Dominic Solanke, potentially displacing Brennan Johnson.
His arrival might also prompt Richarlison’s departure, with his former club Everton reportedly interested in re-signing the Brazilian forward, according to GIVEMESPORT.
