Newcastle United Kick Off Summer Business with Anthony Elanga Signing from Forest
It’s taken longer than fans anticipated, but Newcastle United have finally made their first move in the transfer market, with Anthony Elanga officially through the door.
With that deal wrapped up, the club can now shift focus to other pressing needs.
One such priority remains Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford. Despite ongoing negotiations, the two clubs are still believed to be some distance apart in terms of their valuations.
Nevertheless, there’s still optimism within St. James’ Park that a deal can be struck before the window closes.
Attention is also turning to the attacking department. As Keith Downie had previously reported and Craig Hope has since confirmed, Newcastle will now intensify their pursuit of a new striker following Elanga’s arrival.

While both Wissa and Ekitike are intriguing prospects for different reasons, there’s a real possibility the club ends up signing a completely different name altogether.
Wissa, for example, is valued at around £40 million—a price considered steep, especially given he turns 29 in August.
That age limits any potential resale value, though his 20-goal season for Brentford certainly justifies his market value.
Ekitike, meanwhile, seems to be linked to Newcastle in every transfer window. Though he’d be a brilliant addition, fitting him into the squad alongside Alexander Isak would be a significant challenge tactically and financially.
Fans are eager to learn who else is on the club’s shortlist. If recent history is anything to go by, Newcastle could spring a surprise.
