Carlton Palmer Urges Leeds United to Sign Bazoumana Toure from Hammarby, Following Crysencio Summerville's Path
Leeds United are reportedly interested in 18-year-old Bazoumana Toure, joining other English clubs in scouting the forward, according to TBR Football (29 October).
Toure has been making a name for himself in Sweden, and former Leeds player Carlton Palmer, speaking with Football League World (31 October), sees potential value in the young Ivorian joining the Peacocks.
“Leeds United are looking for reinforcements for the season’s second half as they push for promotion to the Premier League,” Palmer stated. “They’re now in the race for 18-year-old winger Bazoumana Toure.
Seeing how Summerville has progressed could encourage the club’s hierarchy that Toure might follow a similar path.
With a price tag of £5 million, he’s a bargain for anyone willing to invest in his potential.”
Palmer highlighted how Leeds had developed Summerville, who signed at 18 from Feyenoord in 2020 and later moved to West Ham for £25 million plus add-ons (BBC, 3 August).
Palmer suggested that Toure could be a similar investment, potentially bringing high returns if he follows a similar trajectory.
Under manager Daniel Farke, Leeds United has established a solid foundation and is on track to return to Premier League football soon.
Farke has nurtured several promising talents, such as Wilfried Gnonto, Mateo Joseph, and Largie Ramazani, who represent the team’s future.
However, Leeds has struggled with injuries to key players like Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev, which has impacted the squad’s depth, especially in the forward positions.
While Patrick Bamford has made his return this season after a long injury, he hasn’t yet shown his previous form.
Meanwhile, Gnonto and Ramazani have provided creativity up front, but Leeds could benefit from additional attacking strength.
Bazoumana Toure has scored nine goals and made four assists in 21 appearances for Hammarby, a performance that has caught the attention of Leeds’ recruitment team.
