“Troubling Signs” – Pundit: Levy May Dismiss Postecoglou Amid Tottenham Fan Protests
Paul Robinson suggests Ange Postecoglou’s position could be at risk as Tottenham fans prepare protests against Daniel Levy.
With growing frustration among fans over Daniel Levy’s long-term ownership of Tottenham, protests are being planned before the home matches against Liverpool on December 22 and Wolves on December 29, according to GiveMeSport.
Former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, believes manager Ange Postecoglou may face the fallout despite the anger being primarily directed at Levy and his perceived lack of investment in the squad.
“This is nothing new at Tottenham. Daniel Levy has faced criticism for a long time,” Robinson said.
“Looking at his tenure, you can’t deny what he’s achieved from a business perspective.
The revenue, the state-of-the-art stadium, the world-class training ground, the American football facilities, the racing track—it’s all impressive.
“But on the pitch, things haven’t clicked. Levy has tried two ‘win-now’ managers, Antonio Conte and José Mourinho, and neither worked.
Postecoglou has made bold decisions and shown his ambition to win trophies, even though he may not have received sufficient backing.
“When Levy faces mounting criticism at Tottenham, it often results in the manager’s departure.
That’s why this situation doesn’t bode well for Postecoglou.”
Will Daniel Levy sack Ange Postecoglou?
Fans’ frustration is understandable given recent performances, but unless Levy increases his investment in the squad, the team’s struggles are unlikely to change.
Currently, Postecoglou is managing without his first-choice center-backs, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, forcing him to rely on Radu Dragusin and 18-year-old Archie Gray.
Romero has even publicly criticized Levy for the lack of spending, though Postecoglou has downplayed any internal conflicts.
