As the new Premier League season approaches, Everton have reportedly finalized their fourth summer signing under Sean Dyche.
The club has already secured Tim Iroegbunam and Iliman Ndiaye on permanent deals, and Jack Harrison on loan. However, it seems Everton are not done yet.
With a £50 million influx from Amadou Onana’s transfer to Aston Villa, it’s no surprise that Everton are seeking further reinforcements.
Onana’s departure is a significant loss and presents a challenge for Dyche ahead of the opening match against Brighton & Hove Albion on August 17. To address this, Dyche might focus on bolstering the attack by adding a key player.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Everton have agreed to sign Jesper Lindstrom from Napoli in a loan-to-buy deal, with the agreement now “pending.” This follows earlier reports that suggested the Toffees were close to finalizing a £21 million move this summer.
As the deal is a loan-to-buy, Everton will initially need to cover Lindstrom’s reported £48,000-a-week salary, with the transfer fee to be settled next summer.
Lindstrom is expected to add a creative edge to the team. While Onana was a box-to-box midfielder, Lindstrom excels in the final third. Having struggled to secure a place in Napoli’s lineup, he now has an opportunity to showcase his abilities at Everton.
Before his Serie A move, Lindstrom had a standout period at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored seven goals and provided four assists during the 2022/23 Bundesliga season. Football Wonderkids had described him as “intriguing” when he emerged at Brøndby, highlighting his potential.
Now, Everton has the chance to offer Lindstrom the platform he missed at Napoli and help him return to his impressive form.
