Report: Liverpool set to bid for ‘phenomenal’ player, could spark domino-effect on other deals

Liverpool are preparing to bid for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville, according to Leeds Live. The UK media outlet reported on 16 June that the Reds are set to make an offer for the 22-year-old winger, valued at around £35 million.

Chelsea also have an interest in signing him, but neither club has made a formal bid yet.

If Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, succeeds in bringing his compatriot to Anfield this summer, it could initiate a “domino effect” on other deals. The Leeds winger is highly sought after, and the first move could trigger a transfer chain reaction.

Liverpool has been linked with Crystal Palace duo Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise. However, they might abandon these pursuits if they secure Summerville, giving clubs like Newcastle United or Tottenham Hotspur a chance to target those players.

Summerville had an impressive 2023-24 season with Leeds, scoring 20 goals and providing nine assists in the Championship. His contributions extend beyond statistics; he is a “phenomenal” talent, capable of playing on both flanks with exceptional dribbling skills.

Though Summerville is still developing, he could reach new heights under Slot at Liverpool. Leeds’ manager, Daniel Farke, would ideally like to retain him, but Leeds may be powerless if Liverpool makes an enticing offer.

Liverpool needs a new center-back this summer, but they are also looking to strengthen their forward options. While Olise would be a fantastic addition, there is significant competition for his signature.

Currently, Summerville has not expressed a desire to leave Leeds, but his situation could change drastically in the coming months.
