Warhurst says scoring goals is always satisfying after his brace in a dominant win over Everton.
Matty Warhurst says scoring goals and helping City win is always a great feeling, which he demonstrated in our 4-0 victory over Everton in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday.
The striker scored twice, netting a goal on either side of half-time, to secure City’s Under-18s their first league victory of the 2024/25 season.
This brings the 17-year-old’s tally to four goals in two matches following his two-goal performance in City’s 2-2 draw with Norwich in the Under-18 Premier League Cup earlier in the week.
Warhurst believes this league win will boost the team’s confidence as they head into the upcoming international break.
“It’s a really good feeling,” Warhurst said when asked about the significance of the win for himself and the team.
“We won 4-0, dominated the game, created a lot of chances, and personally, scoring two goals always feels great.
“Once you get into a rhythm of scoring, you look forward to every game, and I’m feeling confident.
“Before the game, I did my analysis of Everton, so I was confident I’d score.
“It’s also been great working with the new players,” Warhurst added. “The wingers are getting past defenders and putting in crosses, which is what I thrive on.
“I’m excited to keep playing with the squad, as there’s a lot of potential here.
“After a win like this, everyone gains confidence, and we’re all looking forward to the next few games after the international break.
“The lads who aren’t on international duty will continue training to keep the intensity high, and we’ll prepare for Nottingham Forest together when everyone returns.”
