Sean Dyche Provides Update on Neal Maupay’s Future at Everton
In an interview with BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Sean Dyche finally addressed the future of one of his strikers.
While there has been much speculation surrounding Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s refusal to sign a new contract and Beto’s potential departure, the main focus of this discussion was Neal Maupay.
Since his £15 million transfer from Brighton and Hove Albion, Maupay has struggled to make an impact at Everton, a move that has not gone well for either the club or the player.
Despite persistent rumors of a summer exit, no substantial offers have materialized for Maupay.
Dyche has now commented on the situation, stating, “He’s had a real tough run at Everton.
They know that, he knows that, we have to wait if something new comes for him or see if he stays here and see what he can give us.”
Neal Maupay’s Difficult Spell at Everton
As Dyche hinted, Maupay’s stint at Everton has been challenging.
Brought in during Frank Lampard’s tumultuous tenure, Maupay struggled to find his place within a team lacking a clear strategy.
Lampard’s lack of direction meant that the 28-year-old forward had little chance to succeed.
When Dyche replaced Lampard, Maupay’s situation didn’t improve; he managed to score only one Premier League goal that season.
Loaned out to Brentford, Maupay has often frustrated Everton supporters, not just with his performances but also with his social media behavior, which has sometimes irked fans.
Since returning to Goodison Park, Maupay has made little effort to mend relationships with supporters.
He even clashed with an Everton fan last week while the squad was traveling back from London by train.
Maupay’s time on Merseyside has been tumultuous and unfortunate for both parties. A move away from Everton now seems like the best option for him and the club.
