Wenham predicts ‘exciting’ Tottenham talent to compete with star player for a starting spot next season.
John Wenham expects Mikey Moore to challenge Son Heung-min for a spot in Tottenham's first team next year.
The owner of the well-known Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has expressed excitement over 17-year-old Mikey Moore’s “fantastic” progress this season.
Moore has made five appearances for Tottenham’s first team in the 2024/25 campaign, including one start. Wenham, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, believes the club is preparing him for a permanent first-team role next season.
“Moore already has a full 90 minutes in the UEFA Europa League this season,” Wenham said. “Tottenham have played 10 games, and Moore has featured in half of them. His progress has been remarkable.
“It’s clear the club is preparing him for a permanent first-team spot next season. I expect him to compete with Son for the starting left-winger position next year.”
Wenham added, “It’s exciting to see a homegrown, club-trained player like Moore, who will be just 18, possibly starting regularly next season. That seems to be the plan.”
Despite Moore’s rapid rise in North London, it’s important for fans to remember that he’s still only 17. Minutes on the pitch may remain limited this season, especially after a recent injury update (via Paul O Keefe, 10 October).
However, if Moore continues to gain first-team experience, even in a limited role, it will be invaluable.
By next season, he could develop into a more complete player, ready to push for a permanent first-team spot, as Wenham has suggested.
