West Ham Agree Multi-Million Deal for Signing, Medical Scheduled in 24 Hours – Sky Sports Journalist

West Ham United Agree Deal to Sign Midfielder Ezechiel Banzuzi from OH Leuven

A Sky Sports reporter revealed on X (22 January) that West Ham United has finalized a deal with Belgian club OH Leuven to sign Ezechiel Banzuzi.

The 19-year-old Dutch midfielder is set to fly to England and complete his move.

The highly-rated youngster is expected to join the Hammers by the end of the week, becoming the first signing under Graham Potter at the London Stadium.

West Ham reportedly submitted a bid of £10 million, with add-ons potentially increasing the deal to £13 million, which has been accepted (TBR Football, 21 January).

Sky’s Dorsett stated, “West Ham United have agreed a deal with Belgian club OH Leuven to sign midfielder Ezechiel Banzuzi.

The agreement is for £10 million up front plus £3 million in potential add-ons. Banzuzi is due to fly to England for a medical in the next 24 hours.”

Fans will welcome this move, as Banzuzi is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young talents.

The Netherlands Under-21 attacking midfielder has already made 50 first-team appearances for Leuven, following his debut at NAC Breda at just 16 years old.

Despite interest from AS Monaco (Voetbal International, 6 January), West Ham has outmaneuvered the Ligue 1 club to secure his signature.

The opportunity to play in the Premier League seems to have been a decisive factor for Banzuzi, who will hope to earn playing time under Potter and outperform several underachieving first-team players.

The Hammers are expected to stay active in the transfer market as they aim to bring in more ready-made players to help rejuvenate their season.

Signing Banzuzi marks a statement of intent and could be the first step toward significant improvements at the London stadium.
