“West Ham DESPERATE to Snag ‘PHENOMENAL’ £30M Midfield MAESTRO with an ‘UNSTOPPABLE’ Mindset – You WON’T Believe Who!”

West Ham United have entered negotiations with Southampton over a potential summer move for Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes, according to talkSPORT.

Manager Graham Potter is keen to strengthen his midfield options at the London Stadium, and Fernandes has been a prominent target throughout the summer.

The 21-year-old, described as “exceptional” with a “brilliant mentality,” is now the subject of formal interest from the Hammers. Southampton are expected to demand over £30 million for his signature.

A former Sporting CP player, Fernandes impressed in his debut Premier League campaign last season, making 42 appearances in all competitions and contributing three goals and six assists.

His adaptability is a major asset, as he is primarily a central midfielder but can also operate in more advanced roles and on either flank, thanks to his technical skill.

Known for his dribbling, ball retention, and ability to contribute defensively through his physicality and strength, Fernandes would bring both creativity and steel to West Ham’s midfield.

Southampton, currently pushing for an immediate return to the Premier League, would prefer to keep him, but a substantial bid could prompt them to sell.

Staying in the top flight is likely to appeal to the Portuguese talent, though West Ham may have to fend off interest from other clubs.

Potter is also monitoring Lille’s Ngal’ayel Mukau, with the aim of securing at least one midfield signing before the transfer window closes.

Given his proven Premier League experience and long-term potential, Fernandes could develop into a cornerstone of West Ham’s midfield, offering both immediate impact and future value.
