West Ham dispatch scouts to monitor Serie A striker with seven league goals – report.

West Ham interested in young midfielder given his debut by Vincent Kompany.

West Ham are reportedly targeting a young midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Hammers have recently found form, securing consecutive wins against Arsenal and Leicester City, which ended a frustrating spell following Graham Potter’s arrival.

Potter was always expected to need time to implement his ideas, especially given West Ham’s poor start under Julen Lopetegui, which left the squad low on confidence.

However, recent performances have shown improvement, and Potter will use the remainder of the season to fully integrate his philosophy in preparation for a push toward European qualification next season.

The upcoming transfer window will be crucial for Potter to shape the squad to his liking.

However, West Ham are unlikely to match last summer’s spending spree of over £100 million, which saw significant investment under Lopetegui.

As a result, Potter and his recruitment team will need to be strategic with their signings, with young talents playing a key role.

One name on their radar is Anderlecht’s Mario Stroeykens. At just 20 years old, Stroeykens has already amassed 94 senior league appearances for the Belgian club.

He even faced West Ham as a youngster in the Europa League in 2022.

This season, he has featured in 31 matches across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing six assists. He is also a regular for Belgium’s under-21 squad, earning 12 caps so far.

Interest in Stroeykens isn’t limited to West Ham, as Bayern Munich are also reportedly keen.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany previously coached Stroeykens at Anderlecht and was responsible for handing him his senior debut.

With his current contract running until 2026, there may be an opportunity for West Ham to strike a deal at the right price this summer.
