West Ham are continuing their efforts to reinforce their attacking options in January, even after receiving an early setback in their pursuit of one of their main targets.
According to Claret & Hugh, the club recently enquired about Union Saint-Gilloise striker Promise David, the Canadian forward who has been drawing significant interest from across Europe.
A representative for the player confirmed West Ham’s approach but suggested the likelihood of a deal happening is as low as 1%.
Union SG have already stated they will not agree to a loan, and David is understandably hesitant to give up Champions League football for the pressure of a Premier League relegation battle.
Despite this, West Ham have not walked away. C&H were told again earlier today: “A lot of clubs want him, but West Ham are still interested.”
While the move appears improbable, the Hammers seem determined to keep pushing. If no other club submits a concrete offer in January, West Ham may still attempt to challenge Union SG’s stance with a formal bid.
