West Ham are working on a deal to sign Argentina World Cup winner Guido Rodriguez. The defensive midfielder is currently a free agent after his contract with LaLiga club Real Betis expired at the end of June.
Rodriguez is attracting interest from several teams, including Barcelona and Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, but the Hammers are now in advanced talks to sign him.
The 30-year-old would bring a wealth of experience to the London Stadium, having been part of Argentina’s squad that won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Rodriguez also helped Argentina win Copa America titles both this summer and in 2021.
As the new Premier League season approaches, West Ham are stepping up their transfer activities.
They are close to signing Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville for a fee of £25 million plus add-ons.
Additionally, they are working on a deal for Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.
United are ready to sell Wan-Bissaka and aim to replace him with Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui.
West Ham also seek to sign a striker and another centre-back before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
Niclas Fullkrug is a target, and they are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a deal for the Germany international.
Another new centre-back is on West Ham’s radar following the £40 million signing of Max Kilman from Wolves.
They had agreed a deal with Nice for Jean-Clair Todibo, but there are concerns he prefers to join Juventus.
So far this summer, West Ham have signed young Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme and experienced goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, along with Kilman.
