West Ham in advanced talks to land ‘top target’ in the coming days – journalist

West Ham United are pushing to strengthen their squad before Monday’s deadline, with Evan Ferguson as a key target.

West Ham manager Graham Potter has emphasized that he will not sign players just for the sake of it.

However, the Hammers are in urgent need of a new striker.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, West Ham are in “advanced talks” with Brighton over a deal for Evan Ferguson, who is their “top target.”

While Chelsea are also monitoring the situation, they have yet to make a formal approach.

Jacobs shared on X: “Evan Ferguson remains West Ham’s top target in the next few days.

Already in advanced talks with Brighton. Chelsea monitoring situation but no direct approach yet.”

Once considered one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents, Ferguson has struggled to live up to expectations.

Having worked with him at Brighton, Potter believes he can help the 20-year-old rediscover his best form.

Ferguson has found regular game time hard to come by at the Amex Stadium, and Brighton are prepared to let him go if the right offer comes in.

Given that Potter handed him his debut at Brighton, a reunion at West Ham could be on the cards.

Meanwhile, Tottenham, Everton, and Arsenal are also in the market for strikers, making Ferguson a potential target ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.

West Ham hold an advantage due to Potter’s presence, and fans will be hoping he can persuade the young forward to make the switch to the London Stadium.
