West Ham must resist any interest in left-back Emerson amid growing speculation about his future.
According to Sky Sports Italy, AC Milan has emerged as a potential destination for the West Ham defender. The news, which broke yesterday, is gaining traction with an AC Milan source confirming their interest.
Selling Emerson would be ill-advised for West Ham as they rebuild. Emerson is arguably the only current defender who fits new boss Julen Lopetegui’s style of play.
The 29-year-old Italian defender has long been admired by the Serie A giants. However, a move to the San Siro depends on AC Milan’s star left-back, Theo Hernandez.
AC Milan sees Emerson not as a direct replacement for Hernandez but as a potential squad addition. They would only pursue Emerson if Hernandez leaves the club, which would require a significant offer.
West Ham is currently rebuilding under new manager Julen Lopetegui, with the recent signing of Luis Guilherme highlighting a focus on attacking reinforcements. Emerson’s future at the London Stadium remains uncertain, and AC Milan’s interest could trigger a transfer.
Whether Emerson is part of Lopetegui’s plans will be crucial. If Hernandez remains at AC Milan, it would likely block Emerson’s path to a starting role, making a transfer less appealing for both the player and the Italian club.
