West Ham Negotiating “Expensive Package” to Bring Forward to E20 – Fabrizio Romano

West Ham in Talks with Leeds United and Crysencio Summerville for Potentially "Expensive" Deal, Says Fabrizio Romano

In an interview with GiveMeSport on 26 July, Romano expressed uncertainty about whether West Ham can secure a deal for the 22-year-old Dutch winger. Despite the uncertainty, interest remains, and discussions have been held.

Summerville, who won the Championship Player of the Season award for 2023/24, is reportedly desired by Julen Lopetegui for the upcoming Premier League season.

“The interest in Summerville is still present. It’s a costly deal, so I’m unsure if West Ham can finalize it, but the interest is real,” Romano told GiveMeSport.

“They have had contacts with the player and the club after speaking to Leeds last week. He is one of the players on their shortlist.”

Will West Ham sign Summerville from Leeds United?

His absence from Leeds’ 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Schalke on Saturday raised eyebrows. However, it was due to a slight hamstring issue, not the speculation about his future in West Yorkshire, as reported by LeedsLive.

Signing a striker is one of Julen Lopetegui’s main priorities at West Ham this summer

West Ham already boasts a strong attack. While there’s a clear need for a striker, Julen Lopetegui has Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta, and new signing Luis Guilherme.

Summerville mainly plays on the left wing for Leeds but is also effective on the right and through the middle, making him a versatile option for Lopetegui.

However, in the attacking midfield and wide areas, the left wing likely needs the most attention, and Summerville would be a valuable addition there.

Ultimately, the decision appears to hinge on financial considerations.
