West Ham’s latest signing, Luis Guilherme, is touted by Brazilian experts as a player with the potential to reach the highest levels of football.

Palmeiras, Guilherme’s former club, is renowned for producing top-tier Brazilian talent. While Endrick is the most talked-about prospect from Palmeiras, ESPN’s Joao Castelo-Branco believes Guilherme has world-class potential. “I had heard great things about him before his move – he hails from a golden generation of the Palmeiras youth academy. Meeting him, I was impressed by his grounded, professional, and focused demeanor despite his young age,” Castelo-Branco shared with WHUFC.com.
“He doesn’t seem overwhelmed by the situation and appears excited about the opportunity. His involvement with the Brazil U20 team and the highly-regarded Palmeiras youth squad has undoubtedly contributed to this maturity.”
Castelo-Branco added, “He’s not over-confident and speaks often about his desire to learn and adapt. He is assured in his abilities but isn’t rushing his progress, which indicates he has a solid head on his shoulders.”
While some West Ham supporters remain skeptical about the signing, especially given Guilherme’s lack of experience in European football, Castelo-Branco provided some reassurance. “We are increasingly seeing young Brazilian players move directly from Brazil to the Premier League,” he explained.
“Previously, these players might have transitioned through other clubs or been loaned out, but now Premier League teams recognize the value of securing South American talent early. Today’s young Brazilian players tend to be more professional and adaptable than previous generations. Guilherme exemplifies this new breed of dedicated professionals.”
