Exclusive: Leicester City Secures £4m Deal for Chelsea Midfielder

Chelsea midfielder Michael Golding, 18, is set to join Leicester City in a £4 million deal, according to sources from Football Insider. Golding, who has primarily played for Chelsea’s academy and made just one senior appearance last season, is expected to finalize his move within the next 24 hours, pending medical tests and formalities. He will sign a four-year contract with Leicester.

This transfer follows Chelsea’s agreement to acquire Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester and their recent appointment of Enzo Maresca as manager. Golding debuted for Chelsea’s first team in a 4-0 FA Cup victory over Preston in January and was part of the squad for an EFL Cup match against Middlesbrough shortly after. Additionally, he played in the EFL Trophy for Chelsea’s Under-21s, scoring and assisting in a 2-2 draw against Northampton.

Capable of playing various midfield roles, Golding has garnered attention for his versatility and performances in the academy. Internationally, he has represented England from the Under-15s to Under-18s and is also eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland, having appeared once at the Under-16 level.

Financial considerations have been significant for both clubs this summer, with the 30 June deadline looming. Chelsea’s reported £30 million signing of Dewsbury-Hall will aid Leicester’s finances, while the £4 million from Golding’s transfer supports Chelsea’s need to balance their books.
