Ben Jacobs: West Ham Preparing Bid for AZ Alkmaar Forward Troy Parrott
Having progressed through Tottenham Hotspur’s academy, the 23-year-old forward made his senior debut in 2019.
Despite his early promise, consistent minutes proved hard to come by, prompting several loan spells as he sought regular football and professional growth.
Spurs eventually chose to part ways with him permanently last year, with AZ Alkmaar securing his signature.
Since arriving at the AFAS Stadion, he has flourished, showcasing his eye for goal by delivering 24 goal contributions across all competitions in his first full season with the Dutch side.
This season, Parrott has elevated his level even further, scoring 13 goals and providing one assist in just 14 appearances across all tournaments.
His performances have not been limited to club football either. On the international stage, he has become a key figure for the Republic of Ireland.
With the Boys in Green needing to win their final two group fixtures against Portugal and Hungary to reach the World Cup qualifying play-offs, Parrott stepped up in spectacular fashion—scoring five goals in those decisive matches, including a memorable hat-trick against Hungary.
Unsurprisingly, his outstanding form for both club and country has caught the attention of several Premier League sides ahead of the January transfer window.
Parrott to West Ham
According to GiveMeSport’s Ben Jacobs, West Ham United are looking to strengthen their attacking options in January and view Parrott as a genuine target.
The Hammers also admire Joshua Zirkzee, but signing the Dutch attacker may prove challenging, as Manchester United are reluctant to lose him despite his limited playing time this term.
This situation could push West Ham to advance their interest in Parrott. However, they face competition from Fulham, who are also monitoring the young forward closely.
As a result, any potential deal for the East London club is far from straightforward.
AZ Alkmaar, for their part, are not keen on offloading Parrott mid-season. His current contract runs until 2029, and the player is not pushing for a Premier League return at this stage.
Still, if AZ are pressured into selling, they have reportedly set his valuation at around £31 million. Tottenham do not possess a buyback clause but do retain a 20% sell-on clause.
