“West Ham Set to SHOCK Football World with DRAMATIC Last-Minute Swoop for Spain’s Hottest Midfield Sensation!”

West Ham’s Transfer Window Yet to Spark Ahead of New Premier League Season

Daniel Cummings has joined West Ham on a free transfer from Celtic, though the young striker is seen as one for the future.

Meanwhile, Jean-Clair Todibo has signed permanently with the Hammers after a successful loan spell last season at the London Stadium.

Now, attention has returned to long-term target Morten Frendrup, who currently plays for Genoa in Serie A.

Genoa demand high fee as interest in Frendrup grows

West Ham first expressed interest in Frendrup last summer, reportedly tabling a bid of over £21 million.

Genoa turned that offer down, and the Danish midfielder went on to make 35 league appearances in a standout season.

Frendrup, a tireless and versatile central midfielder, is also capable of filling in as a defensive anchor. He has three years left on his contract, which was renewed in the summer of 2024.

According to Estadio Deportivo (5 July), Real Betis are also interested, but Genoa’s steep asking price could rule them out—potentially handing West Ham a boost.

Although Frendrup is said to be flattered by Premier League attention, his current focus remains with Genoa.

What Frendrup’s arrival could mean for West Ham’s midfield

Should West Ham move forward with a bid, the arrival of Frendrup could prompt changes in midfield.

The club already boasts Edson Alvarez, Tomas Soucek, and new recruit Guido Rodriguez in central roles.

James Ward-Prowse is another potential departure. Although he featured frequently under Graham Potter after returning from a loan at Nottingham Forest, his long-term role remains uncertain.

Frendrup’s signing would certainly intensify competition for starting spots and offer a fresh dynamic in the centre of the pitch.

With Potter aiming to reshape his squad after a disappointing campaign, West Ham could yet swoop in and beat Real Betis to this talented midfielder.
