West Ham United pursuing loan move for André Silva, reports Florian Plettenberg.
Plettenberg shared an update on X (23 January) regarding West Ham’s pursuit of RB Leipzig striker André Silva, whom they’ve monitored throughout the winter transfer window.
The 29-year-old forward could be edging closer to the Premier League, with key negotiations scheduled for Friday, when a decision is expected.
“West Ham now pushing to sign RB Leipzig striker André Silva on a 6-month loan!” the journalist revealed.
“New talks today. Decisive round of negotiations set for Friday. Some Bundesliga clubs are also interested in Silva.
“If the Silva deal falls through, Brian Brobbey (Ajax) is another option West Ham are considering. Decision soon.”
West Ham are urgently seeking a striker, with Silva emerging as a seasoned candidate familiar with high-level football.
Despite never playing in England, the Portuguese forward has represented top clubs such as AC Milan, Porto, and Sevilla. He boasts 53 international caps and 19 goals for Portugal.
Currently, Danny Ings is the only fully fit senior striker at West Ham, with Michail Antonio and Niclas Füllkrug sidelined due to injuries.
The Hammers have also had to navigate Graham Potter’s early tenure without captain Jarrod Bowen, though his return is anticipated soon.
West Ham’s next match is against Aston Villa on 26 January at Villa Park in the Premier League. Their last trip there, Potter’s debut, resulted in an FA Cup exit on10 January.
