However, they face competition from Premier League rivals Southampton and Leicester City.
The 25-year-old forward has been in excellent form this season, scoring seven goals for Middlesbrough and equaling Brian Clough’s club record of netting in seven consecutive games.
West Ham’s Striker Dilemma
The Hammers are in urgent need of a quality striker following unsettling news about Michail Antonio.
The 34-year-old forward was involved in a serious car accident on Saturday. While he is stable, conscious, and under close supervision at a central London hospital, there is no timeline for his return.
The club is expected to give him adequate time to recover, given his significant contributions over the years, often carrying the team’s scoring responsibilities single-handedly.
Meanwhile, West Ham’s summer signing, Niclas Füllkrug, has failed to meet expectations.
The German striker, brought in for a hefty fee, has struggled with form and fitness since arriving from Borussia Dortmund.
The club also missed out on Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran during the transfer window, which forced them to settle for alternative options.
