Although the Scottish Premiership season only concluded over the weekend, Rangers have already turned their attention to preparing for the upcoming campaign as they look to mount a serious challenge against treble winners Celtic.

The club’s transition off the pitch also continues, with 49ers Enterprises nearing completion of their takeover.

A key priority is securing a new manager following the exit of interim boss Barry Ferguson.

Former manager and title winner Steven Gerrard has been strongly linked with a dramatic return, while names such as Davide Ancelotti have also surfaced as potential candidates.

Despite the managerial situation still being unresolved, Rangers have already moved to strengthen their squad.

One notable addition is Dundee attacking midfielder Lyall Cameron, who signed a pre-contract agreement with the Ibrox side back on 3 February.

The 22-year-old’s commitment to Rangers did not impact his form for Dundee, where he played a crucial role in securing the club’s Premiership status and avoiding the relegation play-offs.

Cameron concluded the season with a personal best, notching 14 goals and providing nine assists across all competitions.

His campaign culminated in a brace against relegated St. Johnstone on the final day, underlining his quality and form heading into his new chapter at Rangers.

Despite his on-field success, Cameron’s announcement that he would be leaving sparked backlash among some Dundee supporters, leading to a challenging period for the young midfielder.

Speaking to The Rangers Review, Cameron reflected on the criticism:

“It wasn’t easy when I announced I was leaving. I received a lot of criticism and had to take it on the chin.

People questioned whether I was still committed, but I always maintained that I was, right up until the final whistle of the season.

There were times I missed Rangers matches due to injury, and unfortunately that led to more doubts, but those were genuine absences.”

Cameron explained he often pushed himself to play despite minor injuries, driven by a desire to prove his loyalty: “Maybe I shouldn’t have in hindsight, but I just wanted to give everything for the club that’s supported me for years.

Dundee have been good to me, and I’m proud I could contribute to keeping them up.

I think at times I was trying too hard to show my commitment, and that probably led to a slight dip in form because it took me away from playing naturally.”

While Rangers fans can be optimistic about Cameron’s arrival, elsewhere in Scottish football, former Celtic defender Moritz Jenz is reportedly on the move again.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 26-year-old German centre-back has been placed on the transfer list by Wolfsburg as he returns from a loan spell at Mainz.

Jenz previously had a brief but memorable stint at Celtic Park during the 2022–23 season. Although he performed well, the move was not made permanent.

Nevertheless, he spoke highly of his experience in Glasgow. “Celtic is old school, mysterious, and all about pure football. It’s more than a club—it’s a religion.
