Development: Everton Submit Initial Contract Proposal to Sign “Sublime” In-Demand McNeil Upgrade

Looking to bolster their squad with the recent arrivals of Iliman Ndiaye, Jack Harrison, and Tim Iroegbunam, Everton have reportedly made their first contract proposal in an effort to secure an upgrade on Dwight McNeil this summer.

Despite their ongoing takeover, Everton have had an active summer, with three new players set to impact Sean Dyche’s side next season. Among these, Ndiaye stands out, having arrived from Marseille to seize the Premier League opportunity he passed up at Sheffield United last summer.

Everton’s transfer activities are far from over. Reports suggest they are closing in on a deal to sign Sekou Koita, aiming to rejuvenate Dyche’s attack. Koita, who matched Dominic Calvert-Lewin for goals last season, could potentially join Ndiaye to form a formidable partnership at Goodison Park, complemented by a potential upgrade over McNeil.

According to TeamTalk, Everton have sent their first contract proposal to Jaden Philogene, aiming to beat Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace to the left-winger’s signature. However, securing Philogene won’t be cheap, with Hull City reportedly valuing their star player at £18m to £20m.

Despite the cost, Everton have shown a willingness to move quickly for the right player this summer, and Philogene is certainly a talent worth investing in. If Dyche can secure three new faces for his frontline by the end of the summer window, he will be better positioned to steer the Toffees away from the relegation zone and into mid-table comfort in the Premier League.

“Sublime” Philogene is a marked improvement over McNeil

While McNeil has been a loyal player for Dyche, from their time at Burnley to Everton, Philogene would represent an immediate upgrade. The Hull winger, at just 22 years old, has significant potential for growth, putting McNeil’s position in jeopardy if Philogene joins Goodison Park.

Philogene offers greater threat down the left-hand side, both in terms of output and take-on success. His addition could help Everton form an impressive front three alongside Ndiaye and Calvert-Lewin, making a significant difference in their quest for mid-table stability.

Micah Richards is among those who have praised Philogene, especially after his sensational rabona goal against Rotherham last season. On the Rest is Football Podcast, Richards remarked, “It was ridiculous… wow. A little bit of freedom, a little bit of flair to even try it. The audacity to do that… and then the execution was just sublime. So difficult to do.”
