Merlin Rohl appears increasingly likely to leave Everton early amid the club’s growing interest in Conor Gallagher.
The German attacking midfielder has endured a difficult start to life on Merseyside following his deadline-day switch to Everton.
Persistent injury problems have severely limited Merlin Rohl’s involvement, with the 23-year-old managing just four appearances for the Toffees so far.
His lack of availability has made it impossible for him to build any rhythm or stake a genuine claim for a regular place in the side.
Although Everton are committed to making Rohl’s move permanent at the end of the season, recent transfer links suggest his long-term future at the club is already in doubt.
David Moyes appears to be assessing alternative midfield options ahead of the summer window, which could spell trouble for the German.
As preparations for the next transfer period gather pace, Everton have repeatedly been linked with midfield reinforcements.
