West Ham United are expected to make several player sales this summer to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), despite planning an active transfer window.

Manager Graham Potter aims to reshape the squad by making it younger and more compact, with urgent reinforcements needed in midfield and attack as the club sits 17th in the Premier League.

Potter has inherited a midfield lacking pace, strength, creativity, and defensive solidity.

In response, West Ham have opened talks to sign two promising midfield talents, reportedly costing around £5 million and £20–25 million respectively, aligning with the club’s strategy of smart and affordable transfers.

Adding to this recruitment drive, the club is pursuing a third budget-friendly signing: Rodrigo Huescas, a 21-year-old Mexico international currently playing for Copenhagen.

Huescas, a right-back who can also operate as a winger, is valued at approximately £5 million.

West Ham’s new head of recruitment, Kyle Macaulay, has reportedly tracked him for some time, particularly impressed by his recent display against Brøndby.

This move may indicate Potter’s intention to shift Aaron Wan-Bissaka to the left flank more frequently.

Wan-Bissaka, West Ham’s standout performer this season and likely Hammer of the Year, has already been deployed on the left occasionally, including under former boss Julen Lopetegui.

As a result, the left-back role remains unsettled. Signing Huescas would provide Potter with depth and flexibility on both defensive flanks.

He could rotate with Scarles and Emerson on the left while covering for Wan-Bissaka or a new signing on the right.

Despite his natural position being on the right, Huescas’s arrival could see Wan-Bissaka deployed more regularly on the left to balance the squad’s weakness on that side.

The idea could be to create a left-side partnership with Crysencio Summerville, another young, dynamic talent.

However, Huescas recently faced a legal issue, having been sentenced to 20 days in a Danish prison for speeding.

The offense does not jeopardize his transfer eligibility, meaning West Ham can still proceed with the move.
