Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of appointing Brentford manager Thomas Frank, with his immediate challenge being to restore harmony in a frustrated dressing room.

The club made the shock decision to dismiss Ange Postecoglou on Friday, despite the Australian ending Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought by guiding them to Europa League glory last month.

However, his success in Europe wasn’t enough to outweigh the team’s poor domestic campaign.

Tottenham endured a dismal Premier League season, finishing 17th with only 38 points from 38 matches — a performance that ultimately led to Postecoglou’s departure.

In a statement, the club expressed its appreciation for Postecoglou’s efforts: “We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the club.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Tottenham have already initiated contact with Brentford and hope to finalize a deal for Frank’s services within the next 48 hours.

The agreement with Frank is reportedly already in place, while discussions now revolve around the compensation required to release him from Brentford, along with the cost of bringing his backroom staff — believed to total around £10 million.

Football Insider has reported unrest within the Tottenham squad, with several players said to be disheartened by the decision to part ways with Postecoglou.

His strong rapport with the players appears to have deepened their disappointment.

Mick Brown, a former Tottenham scout still well-connected within the club, shared his thoughts on the mood in the camp and Frank’s upcoming task. Speaking to Football Insider, Brown explained:

“Every new manager faces challenges stepping into a fresh environment. The current players understandably feel let down by Postecoglou’s sacking, especially given the close relationships he built.

Of course, they also share responsibility for the poor league finish, but there’s definite frustration among them.

“They’ll now look at Thomas Frank and wonder what he offers that Ange didn’t. He must win them over quickly, especially the key players, and prove he’s the right fit for the job.

“It’s never easy to take over when the previous manager was well-liked in the dressing room. Still, they’re professionals — it’s part of the game, and they’ll need to adapt.”

Frank will face significant pressure to both unify the squad and improve performances on the pitch as he prepares to lead Tottenham into a new chapter.
